The South Downs SCITT

Louise has extensive leadership experience acquired through various roles within the secondary sector including Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher, Specialist School Lead and Head of Department.  Louise’s passion for professional learning inspired her to take up the lead on the ITT provision within her own establishment which was a mixed comprehensive school in Croydon. In 2015 she became an Education Consultant advising over thirty schools in the South-East, concentrating on raising achievement in key stage four and five. Louise joined The South Downs SCITT as Programme Lead in September 2018 where she is continuing to promote and develop excellent practice within this outstanding ITT provision.

  • Outlining the journey from providing school direct teacher training to becoming a SCITT and being accredited to award Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Achieving an ‘outstanding’ grade from Ofsted demonstrating the high quality of teachers in their early careers which have been supported by the SCITT
  • Working in partnership with the University of Chichester to offer PGCE at Master’s level and support NQTs in their development and training
  • Ensuring the teacher training provided is evidence-based through training by local tutors and input from the Research School to provide training based on recent research and knowledge of cognitive science
